INGREDIENTS
What Makes Cynthia's Treats Different?

We take pride in offering you our healthified treats and have worked hard to ensure your experience is as good as, if not better than, when you eat the full-fat and sugared versions.

Reading the ingredients list on foods helps you avoid ingredients that you would rather avoid. The most obvious ingredients to avoid are trans fats, listed as hydrogenated oils on labels; added saturated fat, such as lard; coconut oil; and palm or palm kernel oil. Also, ingredients are listed in order of quantity, from most to least—so if sugar (for example) is one of the top ingredients, the food may not be the most nutritious choice.

Here's What We've Done to Make Our Treats Healthy, Diabetic Friendly, and All Natural:
Healthy Substitution

Replaced 50% of the unbleached all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour

Benefits
  • Added vitamins including folate, riboflavin, and vitamins B-1, B-3, and B-5, and protein.

  • Nutrient-rich carbs needed to fuel the body.

  • Increase dietary fiber content.

  • Lower glycemic index, so body absorbs more slowly to prevent blood sugar spikes and crashes, and you're satisfied for longer.

Healthy Substitution

Replaced butter and oil with unsweetened applesauce

Benefits
  • Reduced fats. Saturated and trans fats are associated with higher levels of cholesterol in the blood. High cholesterol levels can put you at risk for heart disease.

  • Increase dietary fiber content.

  • Added vitamins.

Healthy Substitution

Replaced added sugar with stevia

Benefits
  • Less empty calories. Stevia is a zero-calorie sweetener, that has little to no effect on blood glucose levels and does not promote tooth decay.

  • Less simple carbohydrates.

  • Lower glycemic index, so body absorbs more slowly to prevent blood sugar spikes and crashes, and you're satisfied for longer.

Healthy Substitution

Replaced eggs, in our cookies, with Greek yogurt

Benefits
  • Added nutrients such as protein, vitamin B12, and probiotics.

  • Lower cholesterol.
